Mat Pilates Instructing

Foundational route into Pilates teaching. Twelve contact weekends, mentor-led observation, teaching practice and case studies. YMCA Awards endorsed.

  • Anatomy and biomechanics
  • The Contrology 1 to 34 repertoire

Level 3

Reformer Pilates Instructing

Equipment-led pathway for instructors who want to teach reformer professionally. Full studio access between weekends to deepen your apparatus literacy.

  • Spring tension, foot bar and carriage work
  • Programme design across mixed-ability classes
  • Reformer assists and safe progressions
  • Tower, chair and barrel introductions

  • How do I become a Pilates instructor in the UK?

    The standard route is a Level 3 Diploma in Pilates Mat or Reformer Instructing from a YMCA Awards or CIMSPA endorsed provider. We deliver both pathways at Parkstone Pilates Studio in Poole.

  • How long does Pilates teacher training take?

    Our Level 3 Mat course runs across 12 contact weekends plus self study, observation and teaching practice. The Reformer pathway adds further weekends. Most students qualify within 9 to 12 months.

  • Do I need a Pilates qualification before I start?

    No prior teaching qualification is required. You should have a regular practice and good general fitness. We assess readiness in a pre-course conversation.

  • Is the qualification recognised internationally?

    Yes. YMCA Awards Level 3 Pilates Mat and Reformer qualifications are widely recognised across the UK and accepted by insurers and gyms internationally.

  • How much does Pilates teacher training cost?

    Tuition for the Level 3 Mat course starts from £2,495 with optional payment plans. The Reformer pathway adds further fees. Get in touch for current dates and pricing.

  • What can I do once I qualify?

    Graduates teach in studios, gyms, leisure centres, online and as self-employed instructors. Many begin assisting in classes during the course and step into paid teaching on qualifying.
